Myths about Feng Shui

There is no denying that there are many different styles of Feng Shui but the subject, as with probably any ancient skill, has been widely promoted in the West in a diluted form and converted into a shadow of the real Feng Shui. This, in its own right devalues the power of Feng Shui.

Real Feng Shui s not about having every room set out according to the "Bagua" the eight sided shape seen in many magazines and books. You do not have a money area in every room or one general relationship area that suits everyone. This notion of Feng Shui is a long way from the complexities of the Lopan, the Chinese compass.

With Western Feng Shui you really do have to believe in the "power of the "cures" - wind chimes and crystals - to get the benefit. There is no denying that the power of positive thought can benefit us all and this explains why for a lucky few, this type of Feng Shui will seem to work but, just like a body needs care and attention to achieve fitness, so do our surroundings. However, because Imperial Feng Shui balances the earth energy, there is no requirement of belief. This means that, as long as you carry out the recommendations of a qualified Imperial Feng Shui practitioner, you will get the benefit of the energy changes. This is extremely useful if you have a skeptical partner. The energy is balanced using colour, shape and form with no recourse to wind chimes and crystals or three-legged toads.
