Frequently Asked Questions
Here we try to answer the questions which are most
frequently raised about Feng Shui and our services.
If your question is not answered here, e-mail Maria@ifsco.co.uk
and we will try to answer it.
- What is Feng Shui?
- Feng Shui is a skill that has been practiced for
over 4000 years in the Far East to create prosperity, harmony and balance,
in homes as well as places of work. It works on the essential
energy of a property to provide support and helps you achieve your
dreams.

- What is Needed for a Consultation?
- We will need a floor plan of the property or map of the plot to be
assessed. This can be hand drawn as long as it is, at least, roughly to scale.

- Do I have to believe in it for it to work?
- No, unlike the "western" approach to Feng
Shui, which is more about believing in the changes you make,
Imperial Feng Shui focuses on balancing the energy that is there.
This means that, as long as you undertake the recommendations as
advised, you will be altering the energy and this will create
improvements.
- How long will the effects last?
- Generally speaking the recommendations take into account the energy
until the next energy shift in 2017.
- Will it cost a lot to change my home/property?
- It is difficult to tell until we see your property. Sometimes there
might need to be changes to the planting in the garden if you have one,
other times a room may need balancing with a certain wall colour. We
believe that sometimes the simplest and cheapest recommendations are
often the most effective and we keep in mind the cost implications of
any changes we recommend.
- How long does a consultation take?
- This depends on the size of the property as well as how easy it is
for us to find the solution to balancing the energy. Sometimes a smaller
property is in fact trickier as it has more demands on it as to its
uses. However a consultation usually takes anything from around 3 hours
for a 2 or 3 bedroomed property.
- Do I have to be present during the consultation?
- We always recommend that you are present during the consultation.
Experience has shown us that people understand the recommendations more
clearly and have a better opportunity to ask questions if they are
present. Misunderstandings at this stage can mean that the
recommendations are not carried out properly.
- Will you be explaining how it works?
- There is so much esoteric theory behind real Feng Shui that it can
confuse some one coming to it for the first time. It is our focus during
the consultation to provide the best service possible in order to create
a supportive environment to you. If we spend our time explaining the
theory, we will be unable to do this. However we know of several people
who do teach the subject and can always provide names for anyone
interested.
- Is Feng Shui a religion?
- No. Feng Shui deals with the essential energy around us and has no
bearing on your personal religious beliefs.
- Do I have to take notes?
- No, we provide a written report of our recommendations as a follow up
to the consultation.
- If the wood element relates to the east, does this mean
that I have to have green in the east position in my room?
- No. There is a misunderstanding, enhanced by many books, that each
area needs its basic element represented there. This would make for a
rainbow coloured room and does not take into account more detailed
aspects of the essential energy of a room.
